Delivery&Collection
Please be advised that from the 5th November 2020 Avis will be sub-contracting their delivery and collection (D&C) service via one of the UK’s largest rental brokers, Nexus.
Nexus operate UK wide, offering their service via 2,000 rental locations with fleet availability of over 500,000 vehicles.
Following all the recent challenges we have experienced with D&C we believe this is a positive change, certainly as the challenges that Covid-19 have created look to continue for the foreseeable.
We’re just working on the finer detail of this new arrangement with Avis and will issue further communications shortly, but in summary;
There will be no change to how bookings are placed, this will continue through the Avis Microsite.
Where the booking is sub-contracted through Nexus, Avis will transfer any D&C rental requirements directly to Nexus. Nexus will provide vehicles from one of their providers, this could be through Europcar, Sixt, Hertz, etc.
Avis will continue to operate their airport locations and a few city stores (mainly London) where vehicles would be collected in person.
The service in North West England will remain unchanged as Regal Rentals will continue to operate through their franchise with Avis, and offer their own D&C service as they do today.
Can I book more than one car at a time?
Yes you can. Each car booked will have a separate booking reference number.
How can I speed up the booking process?
By creating an Avis Preferred Profile, you can manage your personal and payment details, saving you time whenever you make an online booking. By creating a profile, you will also benefit from a number of other services such as the ability to manage your booking history and decide whether you wish to receive your invoices online or via post. All of your personal details will be held in a secure environment.
How will I know if my booking is confirmed?
When you make an online booking we will send you a booking confirmation by email. This includes your booking number, details of your pickup and return location, as well as the price and other useful information. If you have selected Delivery and/or Collection you will receive a further communication confirming the supplier details.
What is an Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number?
An Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number can provide you with specific rates and discounts. If you have one, please enter it when you book car online. An Avis Worldwide Discount (AWD) number will consist of seven digits, one letter following by six numbers e.g. A123456. You do not need to type the letters AWD when making a booking - just the reference number itself.
Is VAT included in the rental price?
Yes. VAT is normally included in the rental price.
What is the minimum rental period?
The minimum rental period is 24 hours.
Once I have made a booking, can I change the dates of my rental period?
Changes prior to hiring your car:
You can modify your booking details online prior to the rental date, including the length of the rental.
Changes when you have already hired your car:
If you have already hired your car please get in touch with the rental station where you collected your car, their contact details are displayed on your Rental Agreement. You can also click here to visit the Location section of our website where you can also find the contact details of your rental station.
How can I be sure that my credit card details will be secure when making a payment online?
The online booking process is located on a secure server that guarantees the safety of a transaction. The system uses SSL (Secure Socket Layer) encrypting technology. SSL works by encrypting all communications between your computer and our server so the information cannot be intercepted.
What does 'Vehicle Registration Fee' mean?
In most countries, a 'registration fee' or 'vehicle registration fee' is levied. This fee is revealed separately and covers costs related to vehicle registration, motorway tolls (Vignette), etc. Depending on the country, the fee is levied per rental day or as a fixed amount per rental. This fee is normally included in the quote.
I am unable to enrol for preferred; the system suggests that there is a problem with my credit card. What am I doing wrong?
Avis are aware that there may be problems with the preferred enrolment function. Some of the problems related to employees already having Avis profiles, this has now been resolved. If an employee is having difficulty enrolling for Avis Preferred they should send an e-mail to accountservices@abg.com
The cost appears to be higher than I was expecting?
The Rental costs published on the your employee intranet are exclusive of VAT and Road Fund License. The rates quoted on this site will be inclusive of these costs.
I often require a vehicle for delivery out of hours, i.e. 06:00 hours, when I make the reservation the e-mail confirmation appears to reflect a different start time and tariff to that requested?
Our operating system precludes making reservation when the delivery station would normally be closed. To bypass this constraint the reservation agent will make the booking for 17:59 and instruct the branch to deliver the night before in readiness for a 06:00 start. This will mean a different start time is visible on the confirmation and that the price may vary from the quoted one. The final charges and invoice will reflect the correct parameters.
I have tried enrolling for Avis Preferred but the system tells me I cannot as I am younger than 21, is this correct?
Avis policy for Preferred enrolment precludes anyone under the age of 21 signing up due to insurance restrictions.
This does not impact in anyway on the ability to rent a vehicle. Hiring is still permitted in UK as rentals will be covered by your company’s insurance policy.
If you are using a tariff that includes Avis (CDW – collision damage waiver), the minimum age requirement is 23 years of age provided licence held for 1 year. Between the ages of 23 and 25 restrictions apply so that only car groups B, D, E, and I can be driven.
I often use another colleague's Credit Card to make reservations and hire vehicles, can I continue to do this with Avis and can we both use the same card to enrol for Avis Preferred?
Avis policy requires that the credit cards used for payment should belong to the hirer. The Preferred enrolment process will not allow multiple profiles against the same credit card and will reject the application. Employees should use a different credit card. If a contractor has a frequent rental requirement, they should contact their line manager.
Is a 'B' group vehicle in the UK the same across Europe?
The vehicle groups within the UK do not necessarily map across to other Avis countries. Employees should therefore confirm their vehicle requirements with the reservation agent when they are making a booking for outside the UK.
I have tried to make a Delivery and/or Collection reservation on the microsite and cannot find my site listed what should I do?
Please select home delivery and enter the address and postcode of the site manually.
What should I do if I require an additional driver on the rental?
If you require more than one driver on the rental then please inform the reservation agent. If you are making your reservation via the microsite then employees can enter the additional driver requirement into the remarks field. The following format should be used; ADDR SMITH
What insurances do I need if I am hiring a vehicle outside of the UK?
Outside of the UK, Avis rates are loaded into the system to include CDW and TP which provide a maximum liability to the hirer in the event of vehicle accident or theft. The excess levels vary according to country and car group and typically are in the range of €600 - $1000 maximum liability per incident.
