Driving license

A valid driving license is required if you want to rent a car at Avis. The license must be valid at the time of rental, remain valid throughout the rental period and should have been held for at least 1 year.

When collecting the vehicle, you have to present your driving license and your identity card or passport. International licenses in non Roman alphabet are only valid if presented with an international driving license.

Minimum age

The minimum age to rent an Avis vehicle in Belgium is 23. If you want to rent a luxury vehicle (category K & L), you should be at least 30 years of age. Vans can be rented by drivers that are 21 or older.

Drivers under 25 will be subject to a 'Young Driver' surcharge of 12,10 € (VAT inc.) per rental day with a maximum of 121,00 € (VAT inc.) per rental agreement.

Additional driver

The rental car can only be driven by and is only insured for the person who's name and data are specified on the rental agreement. If others plan to drive the car, they must be present at time of rental to be added to the rental agreement. A surcharge of 37,51 € (VAT inc.) per rental agreement will apply to cover an additional driver.
